100 Bishopsgate is home to legal firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP’s new headquarters. The move was driven by the firm’s efforts to minimise their environmental impact and has resulted in a 30% energy saving compared to their previous dwelling on Fleet Street.
SCP Contracts worked with lighting design studio 18 Degrees, who collaborated with interior architect ID:SR, to help specify the lighting for the new office. The space is now powered by 100% renewable energy and the LED system helped achieve a BREEAM Excellent sustainability rating and a SKA Gold.
The decommissioning of their old office on Fleet Street was also carefully managed to ensure zero landfill waste for furniture and IT. The firm offered staff use of chairs and screens for home office set-up’s and partnered with Business 2 Schools to distribute items to 50 schools throughout the community.
Supporting the wellbeing of staff was at the forefront of this project. The lighting design was carefully considered for all areas, not just the client facing spaces, ensuring that staff have a range of illumination available to them, including natural light.
Freshfields’ move to 100 Bishopsgate is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to redefine how we work. We have carefully planned the space to facilitate agile and remote-working arrangements, as well as support wellbeing and minimise environmental impact.
