The Black & White Building

Shoreditch, London

The Black & White Building provides flexible office space as part of The Office Group. The building was originally a furniture factory and retains the characteristic high ceilings and large windows. The black facade provides a strong contrast to the colourful, light interior.
The space is designed to encourage collaboration and communication between users by incorporating breakout areas and communal work benches. Sustainability is a key part of all Office Group spaces and the Black & White Building is no exception – the rooftop terrace provides outdoor space but also supports features such as rainwater harvesting, sensor lighting and photovoltaic panels.
SCP worked with BuckeyGrayYeoman to specify furniture and lighting throughout the building. The client chose a combination of 20th Century design classics, including Eames fibreglass stacking chairs and Anglepoise table lights, and future classics like the Steelwood stool by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.
Products specified:
Steelwood Stool by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec (Magis)
Medici lounge chair by Konstantin Grcic (Mattiazzi)
Midori armchair by Ebualà (Sancal)
Calvo side table by Lee Kirkbride (SCP)
Stirrup light by Original BTC
